NLM SCHEME

The National Livestock Mission (NLM) is an initiative by the Government of India aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, enhancing per animal productivity, and generating employment in the livestock sector. It focuses on areas such as sheep, goat, pig, and poultry farming, as well as fodder development.

Key Features of the NLM Scheme

  • Entrepreneurship Development: Provides financial assistance to individuals, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmers Cooperatives (FCOs), Joint Liability Groups (JLGs), and Section 8 companies for establishing livestock-based enterprises.
  • Financial Assistance: Offers capital subsidies of up to 50% of the project cost, with ceilings varying by component. For a Total Project cost of Rs.100 lakhs 50 Lakhs Subsidy will be given
  • Expenditure Coverage: Subsidies cover costs related to housing, purchase of breeding animals, equipment, and machinery. However, they do not cover expenses for land acquisition, rent, lease, working capital, or personal vehicles.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Supports training programs for beneficiaries to enhance technical expertise in livestock management.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Land Requirement: Min Land of 5 Acres in applicant name or in the name of Family members (With Proper Legal Title).
  • Financial Requirements: Applicant needs to get sanction of term for an amounting Rs.40 Lakhs .For self-finance projects bank guarantee from Govt bank needs to be submitted.
  • No CIBIL Issues.

Documents Required:

  • Project Proposal: Detailed project report outlining the project's objectives, implementation plan, and financial projections.
  • KYC Documents: Proof of identity and address of the applicant.
  • Financial Documents: Proof of financial contribution, such as bank loan sanction letters or bank guarantees for self-financed projects.
  • Land Documents: Proof of land ownership or lease agreement.
  • Training Certificates: Documentation of relevant training or experience in livestock management.
  • Permissions from local panchayat for construction of shed.
  • Experience Certificate from local veterinary Doctor.

Application Process:

  • Online Application: Fill in the online application form on the NLM portal.
  • Screening: The State Implementing Agency (SIA) screens applications for eligibility.
  • Approval: Recommendations are forwarded to the State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) for approval.
  • Subsidy Disbursement: After approval, subsidies are disbursed to beneficiaries through their bank accounts.

Important Notes:

  • Non-Eligible Expenses: No subsidy will be provided for land purchase, rent, lease, working capital, or personal vehicles.
  • Training Requirement: Applicants must have undergone relevant training or possess sufficient experience in livestock management.
